The third batch of Golden State stimulus checks shipped on October 6. This shipment included the first batch of physical checks, as well as a more direct deposit. Faced with a historic state surplus, the California State Legislature passed a bill that allowed business stimulus checks to be mailed to two-thirds of the state’s residents. According to the stimulus update, checks are worth between $600 and $1,100; Checks for $1,100 are eligible for those with children or from a mixed-status household. The checks will be mailed to residents of the state with an annual gross income of $75,000. Unlike the federal cash check, the income limit for married couples taxing together is not higher.
In the previous stimulus check update, 2.6 million checks were distributed after the state shipped two large batches on August 27 and September 17. SFGATE reported that this third round of checks would be sent to approximately 2 million residents of the Golden State.
Beginning October 6, the California Franchise Tax Board will issue the first round of stimulus checks. Many of those who provided direct deposit information to the agency has already received their payment.
Those whose zip code ends in 000044 will be the first to receive a physical check.
